OUR ACTIONS AND MAIN ACTIVITIES
ACTIVITIES AT THE CENTRE
The centre operates Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., providing a safe and supportive environment for people living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. We offer a range of therapeutic and engaging activities aimed at enhancing well-being, maintaining abilities, and preserving dignity.
● Reminiscence sessions: Sharing memories through photos, music, and familiar objects
● Indoor games: Dominoes, board games, puzzles, and word activities to stimulate the mind
● Art therapy: Painting, drawing, and crafts for creativity and self-expression
● Music activities: Singing, dancing, and simple instruments for enjoyment
● Physical exercises: Gentle stretching and chair-based movements to stay active
● Mindfulness & relaxation: Breathing exercises and calming activities to reduce stress
● Outings & walks: Short trips and nature walks for fresh air and social interaction
● Sensory activities: Engaging the senses through touch, smell, and visual stimulation
Family Support:
● Parent Support Group (PSG): Held monthly by our psychologist, psychotherapist, and speech therapist, providing a safe space for families to share experiences, receive guidance, and gain ongoing support.
Each year, the month of September is dedicated to raising awareness about Alzheimer’s disease. During this period, we organise educational talks and interactive sessions in social welfare and community centres to sensitise the public and promote better understanding of the condition. In addition, we conduct structured training courses at the MITD for caregivers, focusing on capacity building, practical caregiving skills, and emotional support. Media engagement also forms an essential part of our awareness efforts, helping to disseminate accurate information about the disease and encouraging community support for individuals living with Alzheimer’s and their families.
